Guidelines for Scouting for Food Review the general purpose of the Food Drive with your scouts. Explore reasons why people need to use a pantry.

Drop off Price Chopper bags on Saturday, October 26 in the morning. Gather at a meeting place and distribute bags. Do not put in mail boxes but you may put on flags near mail boxes or hang from doors.

Make sure the scouts (especially the younger scouts) know what to say if someone asks what they are doing while dropping off bags. They can also refer to the bags or slips of paper in each bag.

Scouts should wear their uniforms during drop off and pick up. (Wear hats if coats cover uniforms.)

Review your route. I have maps for each leader.

Split up in small groups and use the buddy system. Establish a meeting place if a group gets separated from the group or exchange cell phone numbers of other parents assisting.Boys should be in sight of an adult at all times.

Stay on the side of the streets, out of traffic.

Try not to cut across lawns; walk on driveways or walks to access residences.

Be careful of animals, especially dogs.

Pick up bags on Saturday, Nov. 2. Bring them to the Venture Food Pantry of Bethlehem/First Reformed Church of Bethlehem. They are located at 38 Church Rd. Selkirk. (Halfway between the Jericho Drive In and A.W. Becker School, just off of Rt. 9W on Church Rd.) Go in the back and down the steps. Here is a link to the website:
