What is Scouting for Food? To benefit the local food pantries in our area, the Bethlehem NY Cub Scout Pack 232 is participating in the “Scouting for Food” program. Our Scouts join 3 million other scouts nationwide to collect food to feed the hungry. All the food we collect will go to help feed those in our community. We thank you all in advance for your generosity! How does Scouting for Food work? The Scouts will drop empty plastic grocery bags and a flyer at Bethlehem houses on Saturday, October 26. They will return to pick up these bags the following week on Saturday, November 2. We ask everyone who receives a bag to donate what they can. Please leave the bags in a place which is visible from the street, preferably by your mailbox or on your front porch. We will pick up donations between 9am-12pm on November 2. What kind of items to donate? What to avoid? Favorable items to donate include: rice, macaroni-and-cheese, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned meats and fish, pasta and sauce, vegetable oils, mayonnaise, canned soups, peanut butter, jelly, and cereal. Laundry detergent, bar soap, toilet paper, and paper towels are also requested. The Food Pantry cannot acceptexpired food, food in glass containers, or food that is perishable.
