Folks,
A few quick updates for you.
Scouting for Food
Scouting for Food was a great success! The Venture Churches Food Pantry was thrilled with the amount of food collected this year. One 30 year volunteer said that we collected the most food that they had seen from a single food drive! Great work.
Howe Caverns
Our trip to Howe Caverns is this weekend! I will be sending out a separate email to the trip attendees with more details.
November Pack Meeting & Down and Dirty Cub Scout Nova Award
At our November Pack meeting we will be discussing geology, fossils and earth science. These items pair with the Down and Dirty Cub Scout Nova Award. The Nova Awards incorporate learning with fun activities and exposure to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We will be covering some of the Down and Dirty requirements at the Pack meeting. However, to earn the award your scout will have to complete additional requirements at home.
There are 4 requirements for the award, each with multiple options for completion. At the Pack meeting we will be working on 2 (a) and 2 (b). Our visit to Howe Caverns will cover item 4.
If your scout would like to complete this award and earn a Nova Award Badge please review the following requirements:
Both Richard Crumb and I are Nova Counselors and able to sign off on the requirements for your scout. The Nova awards are a fair amount of work and might be a good activity for upcoming school vacation days.
Stuff-A-Stocking & Ice Cream Social w/ Troop 1075
Pack 232 will be assisting Troop 1075 with their annual Stuff-A-Stocking Service Project. This optional service project is a great opportunity to help out those in need this holiday season. Please RSVP on Scoutbook no later than 12/5. If possible Troop 1075 asks that you help provide donated items for this effort.
Event details:
We are kicking-off the annual Stuff-A-Stocking service project! Our troop is providing filled Christmas stockings for children at the Troy Boys and Girls Club. Please donate stocking stuffers for this event. Scouts are welcome to ask friends and neighbors to provide items also.
Background: The Capital Area Boys and Girls Club holds annual holiday parties at their main center locations in Troy, Albany, and Schenectady for the kids enrolled in their after-school program. The three centers serve almost 4,000 kids in need. Their holiday parties are festive and exciting with a ton of happy kids! The stockings that we donate will be matched with a child and hung from the walls of the gym. Santa will read a story to all the kids and then he will send them into the gym to find their stocking. For many kids, this will be the only present they receive. The holiday party and stocking gifts are a 50-year tradition for the Boys and Girls Club. Troop 1075 provided 120 stockings last year, and Mr. Kemp has challenged us to provide 150 stockings this year!
Our Task: Present the Boys and Girls Club with 150 full stockings. Please bring in donated stocking stuffers the night of the meeting.
Date: Wednesday, December 10. The meeting will start at 6pm because stuffing the stockings takes some time, AND we will also have ice-cream at this meeting!
Age Range: 6 to 14, boy, girl, or neutral.

Boys and Girls Club Mission: “Imagine a place where who you are, where you’re from, or the circumstances that surround you don’t determine your access to experiences or opportunities. Through your support, Boys & Girls Clubs are making that vision a reality - in your community and communities around the world”
