Note: This email was sent to leaders as a draft for review before sending to the full pack.

Josh and I just discussed the popcorn fundraiser email for this year. Please see below for our revisions and let us know if you have any comments. I am planning on sending this out to the Pack on Friday.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. I’m writing to let you know about the 2024 Cub Scout popcorn fundraiser. The Pack gets virtually all of its funding to function from this fundraiser, so it is vitally important that everyone do their utmost to make it a success. It’s also a fun opportunity for the scouts to interact with the community and let people know about scouting. Please see below for some important information about this year’s sale.

Scouts must create an account with our popcorn vendor, Trails-End, to sell popcorn. You can log in to your existing account or register for the first time at: https://portal.trails-end.com/

For purposes of registration, we are Pack 1232, Fort Orange District, Twin Rivers Council.

Once an account has been created, scouts can start selling online immediately using the Trails-End website or app.

We will set up storefront popcorn sales for the scouts at various stores in the area in October/November. Each shift is 2 hours and 2 scouts will be allowed per shift. Scouts must register for shifts through the Trails-End website. These storefront sales are a great way for scouts to hit their sales goals, and the majority of our Pack sales come from these selling events.

This year’s popcorn sale requirement is $300 per family with one scout and $450 per family with multiple scouts. Families that don’t want to participate in the fundraiser will be asked to make a $100 donation to the Pack for a one scout family and a $150 donation for a multiple scout family. While not required, we encourage Lion scouts and families who joined the Pack in June of 2024 or later to participate in the popcorn fundraiser in order to help support the Pack.

Based on feedback we have received, we are creating Scout accounts for each Scout that sells popcorn this year. Scouts that sell over $600 will get half of all additional Pack proceeds from their sales placed into a scout account that they can use to pay for Scouting events (summer camp, camporees, trips). More details on the Scout accounts will be forthcoming.

In addition, Scouts will earn a Stewart’s ice cream gift card for the first storefront sale they attend and get to throw a pie in the face of a leader of their choice for every $500 in popcorn sales. These prizes are in addition to Council prizes, which include Amazon gift cards and a trip to the Great Escape Water Park for scouts who hit certain popcorn sales goals.

We are also planning to break the Pack into teams to compete for top popcorn selling honors.

With your support I am sure we can have a great sale and help fund some terrific events for the scouts this year. Please feel free to contact Bob Pollock or me if you have any questions.

Best regards and stay well.
