CUB SCOUT PACK 232’s 2020-21 COVID-19 SOCIALLY DISTANT POLICIES Dear Cub Scouts and Parents, To do our best to support the health and safety of our Cub Scouts and their families, we have developed a set of precautions for our Pack meetings, den meetings, outings and camping trips. • We are asking each parent to attest to the health and travel history of their Cub Scout (as well as themselves) before attending EACH Pack and Den event. • We are taking the temperature of each Cub Scout and Adult using a non-contact thermometer when arriving at a Pack or Den event as well as each subsequent day of a Pack or Den event (e.g. we will take temperatures once a day for a 3-day camping trip). If they have a temperature in excess of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, they will not be able to stay. If you or your Cub Scout become sick or develop symptoms during a meeting, outing, or overnight trip, you will be asked to isolate, go home and seek care. We highly recommend that you check temperatures before leaving home. Guests and visitors to any Pack or den activity must go through these pre-gathering protocols and screening. • Each Cub Scout will be driven to and taken home by his or her family. • We will hold a socially distant briefing for all participants prior to commencing the Pack or den activity • Cub Scouts and adults should each bring enough face masks plus one extra as back-up for any Pack or den activity. The Cub Scout should always keep the face mask in his/her possession. The Pack will have spare face masks available. • For camping trips, the Pack will provide paper/plastic plates, bowls, cups and utensils for meals; Cub Scouts and adults do not need mess kits. While disposable products consume environmental resources, they are a safety precaution. • Cub Scouts and Adults will be required to wear 3-layer face masks (cannot contain a valve) throughout the Pack or den activity when social distancing cannot be maintained (i.e. Face Masks are not required when Cub Scouts are more than ten feet from a non-related person). Face masks MUST cover both the nose AND mouth and latch behind the ears. Gaiters and Face Shields are NOT acceptable. • Even when all Cub Scouts and Adults are masked, we will ask them to keep a safe distance if possible • We ask parents/guardians to review rules for wearing face masks and social distancing with their Cub Scouts. Compliance is important to respecting the health and safety of others. Cub Scouts and adults should also be comfortable asking another person to “give them some space” if people get too close for their personal comfort. • Every Cub Scout should practice frequent hand hygiene and bring their own supply of hand sanitizer. The Pack will provide hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes. Food items are not to be shared. • All Cub Scouts and adults are to speak in a respectful tone while discussing social distancing or other concerns. • To ensure the safety and well-being of our members, we may suspend, cancel, or terminate a Pack membership in the event your behavior or conduct appears contradictory to the BSA’s core values and the Pack’s safety requirements. Inappropriate language, or behavior deemed to be in conflict with the welfare and safety of Pack 232 members, is prohibited. Pack 232 follows all applicable New York State Executive Orders regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic as well as any guidance provided by Twin Rivers Council or our Chartering Organization (Selkirk Volunteer Fire Company No. 2)
