Parents & Leaders,

The Pack is working to finalize the details of our upcoming Pinewood Derby. The PWD will be held on Saturday March 14th at the La Salle Institute in Troy, NY. Currently the event is scheduled for 11am-3pm. Light snacks, drinks, coffee, and pizza will be available for purchase at the event. Feel free to bring your own food. This is a good event to bring the grandparents and extended family too.

All Scouts will need to bring their completed PWD Cars to the event. You can find the official PWD rules here: PWD Rules.

All cars will be checked in at the start of the event. The check-in process ensures compliance with the official rules. Cars out of compliance will need to be made compliant before they can race.

The Pack has an 8 lane PWD track. Each car will race once on each lane. Overall and Den winners are determined by averaging each car’s individual races. Trophies are awarded to overall winners and Den winners. Additionally, superlative awards are given for various categories. In the past superlative categories have included; Most Scout Spirit, Fastest Looking Car, Hottest Car, Car Most Un-like a Car, Most Realistic, Most Creative, etc. Each participant will be given a participation medal.

Please assist your scout as they design and build their car! This is an event for the scouts. Please do not build their car for them.

If you would like to build a car yourself and participate in the “Big Kids PWD” please do so. I plan to build a car this year. The winner gets to be Cubmaster next year….

Each rank has a PWD related elective adventure. I have attached the requirements. Please work with your scout on earning the PWD elective adventure!
