Thank you to everyone who has signed up to work the Duck Game booth at the Selkirk’s Fireman’s Fair, which is July 20-21, 6pm to 10pm each night. Here is the schedule of those working the booth:

Thursday, July 20: 6:00pm to 8:00pm - Farrell Robbins 8:00pm to 10:00pm - Bigwarfe Halvorsen Friday, July 21: 6:00pm to 8:00pm - Melei Pattison 8:00pm to 10:00pm - TBD TBD Saturday, July 22: 6:00pm to 8:00pm - Coyner Hannibal 8:00pm to 10:00pm - Zemsky TBD

For those of you who have not worked the “Duck Game” booth before, it is very easy. The Volunteers from the Fire District are very helpful and basically take care of most of the set up. If you are first to arrive for the night (6pm, but arrive by no later than 5:45pm), you go first to the shed in the back corner of the lot and get the Duck Game materials from one of the volunteers. The materials are a small inflatable kiddie pool that will sit on top of the ledge of the booth. A volunteer fireman has access to a water hose to fill up the pool about half way. Also, someone will need to go into the basement of the Firehouse to sign in and get the starter/change money and waist money holders. I will be there at the beginning on Thursday and at the end on Saturday. Then, you fill the pool with plastic ducks with numbers and letters on it that float. There is a box of prizes to give away to game players. The object of the game is for the kids or players to create matches when they pick 3 ducks. After they pick 3 ducks without looking and put them on the ledge. If they pick some kind of match, they win. The point is, EVERYONE WINS. If they don’t pick a match, make up a special match or a “do over”. Charge $1.00 for every play. Let everyone pick out a prizes. Put the boxes on the side of the booth on the ledge so people can get out of the way when they pick out the prizes. Be sure to emphasize that everyone wins and that the game helps the Scouts. We will have our banner and probably an additional sign that advertises the Duck Game specifically. At the end of the night, the prizes and ducks have to be boxed up and returned to the trailer. I don’t recall if we leave the pool outside in the booth or not. The money we take from game players has to then be returned to the basement Fire House and counted. The volunteers there provide a form for you to fill out to verify the count. This takes about 10 minutes. Again, I will be there on Saturday, so I will be there to handle this. Whoever is closing on Thursday and Friday needs to be concerned about this. The Fire volunteers will give you and your son free drink and food tickets for working in the booth. If you don’t get them, just notify one of the volunteers. Any questions, let me know. My cell phone is 518-847-4671. Thanks again everyone. Jeff Zemsky
