The Secretary ensures that proper records are kept for Pack 232, manages communications infrastructure (email lists, website, Facebook, Google Drive), and keeps the pack’s administrative machinery running. The Secretary is the institutional memory of the pack — health forms, consent forms, membership records, meeting minutes, and correspondence all flow through this role.
Requirements
Age: 21 years or older
Registration: Must be a registered adult leader of BSA
Selection: Selected by the Pack Committee, approved by the Charter Org Rep
Required Training:
Youth Protection Training (YPT) — renew every 2 years
Pack Committee Challenge (online at my.Scouting.org)
Access: Full access to pack website and Facebook page (as needed)
Core Responsibilities
Keep informed of all Cub Scouting literature, materials, records, and forms
Help new den leaders access Scoutbook and other needed tools
Maintain an inventory of pack property
Handle correspondence for the pack (thank-you letters, reservation requests, supply orders)
Keep notes on business conducted at pack leaders’ meetings — record key decisions, follow-up items, and historical items (not verbatim)
Notify leaders of pack committee meetings and other activities
Provide den leaders with records and forms for meetings
Organize BSA Health forms for all Scouts and adults; maintain BSA Activity Consent forms
Maintain the pack website and Facebook page (or coordinate with the person assigned these tasks)
Maintain pack email distribution lists and Google Drive archives
